The scientific name of Mango Leaves is Mangifera indicaModern scientific research has demonstrated that the extracts from mango leaves (MLs) have  anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-obesity, lipid-lowering, hepato-protection, and anti-diarrheal effects. MLs exhibit exceptional biological, medicinal, and metabolic properties. MLs are otherwise considered as a waste material generated mainly through the pruning of mango plants; in reality, they are a most significant resource containing a wide variety of bioactive compounds (phenolics and essential oils), crude protein, dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins. The various bioactive compounds present in the MLs include phenolic compounds, flavonoids, benzophenones, sesquiterpenes, saponins, xanthones, tannins, terpenoids, and alkaloids. MLs extract is found useful for the treatment of common diseases like diarrhea, chronic ailments like diabetes, and fatty liver disease. MLs extract possessed strong anti-proliferative activity against pancreatic, breast cancer, human colon carcinoma, and other types of cancers. Plant compounds called terpenoids and polyphenols spotted in the leaves, reduce body inflammation to a great level. Mangiferin, found in the bark, leaves and fruit of mango trees, is known to possess several beneficial properties — antioxidant, anti-tumour, anticancer, antidiabetic and antibacterial properties. Several studies have indicated that mangiferin has beneficial effects on cardiac inflammation, diabetic cardiomyopathy, coronary heart diseases and myocardial ischemiareperfusion.

The leaves are to be dried and powdered or used as an infusion. Soak the leaves overnight in a cup of water or Boil mango leaves in a tumbler of water. Strain the particles and drink the water at any time of the day. Boil mango leaves in water with a little honey and turn it into a decoction. This can cure cough as well as voice loss. Strain it and drink it in the morning.
